The Society "Shishu Mandir – Zukunft für Kinder e.V." (Shishu Mandir – Future for Children (Reg.) has taken up the support an guidance of the Indian Society "Shishu Mandir" in its educational, social and health orientated projects. Regular circulars inform the donors about the actual position and development of the projects. To do so the founder of the initiative and other members of the German Society visit the initiative regularly in order to get a first hand information and impression.
No project can survive without finance. Therefore the main task of the German Society lies in the supply of funds. The members and well-wishers of the Society appeal to the public for sponsorships for the project as a whole and for donations in respect of special expenses like the equipment of the school and vocational training centre, or also renovating the houses from time to time, health sponsorships, etc.
Present needs at a glance
- books for the library
- teaching aids, visual aids
- geographical maps
- repairs of the different houses and means for teacher training workshops
- employing trainers for carpentry, tailoring, computer, music and sports.
A further aim of the Shishu Mandir is to have a cultural exchange between children in India and Germany. The first step always is contact by letters, which could ultimately lead to a personal visit in India and cooperation in the project.
As the teaching methods of Indian teachers urgently call for modernisation, Shishu Mandir is most interested in getting teachers from Europe with a good command over English to help introduce a modern teaching system. For financial reasons such a cooperation over a longer period could, however, only be carried out within a Sabbatical Year. Apart from that Shishu Mandir is open to any shorter time of teaching assistance by teachers from Europe over a minimum period of 4 weeks.
